Letter to the President

By Roger Williams

President Obama will be in Austin this week to discuss the economy. I sent him an invitation to tour local small businesses to understand the devastating effects that ObamaCare and a host of other big government regulations are having on job creation.

Here is the full letter:

Dear Mr. President:

I am delighted to learn you are coming to Austin to talk about the economy! As the Congressman for Texas Congressional District 25 that includes the Texas State Capitol, I want to personally invite you to join me at a local small business where we can fully examine the impact of your policies on our nation's job creators. Mr. President, we have a  lot to talk about.

Tax Day Lament

By Roger Williams for Congress

As a forty-year small business owner, I know first-hand how gut wrenching April 15th can be.  You’ve worked hard, cut costs where you can, ensured your employees are well cared for, and then comes the government with a very large hand shoved into your pocket.

Some years are better than others . . . some years are worse. But under the Obama regime, we’re facing nothing but a whole lot of worse.

Now that I am serving as the voice of the good people from the 25th Congressional District, Tax Day is taking on a whole new meaning. As I travel around and meet other people who are working to keep their businesses afloat, I’m reminded about how devastating Obama’s new tax schemes are to everyone who lives right here in our communities.

Williams Pledges To Protect Gun Rights

By The Hillsboro Reporter

From The Hillsboro Reporter

With legislation pending in Congress that could restrict gun rights, Congressman Roger Williams, R-Austin, took the opportunity during a spring recess to tour District 25 to meet with constituents.

“The administration is attempting to erode our Constitutional freedoms by circumventing Congress by issuing executive orders.

“Our founding fathers would not have imagined that the right they listed second in the Bill of Rights, the right to bear arms, would be attacked by the country’s very own president,” he said.

Rather than restricting gun rights, Williams said that the president needs a different approach to address the root of violence in the country.

May You Celebrate a Very Happy Easter!

Patty and I want to wish you and your family a truly joyous Easter! Now is the time we remember, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live even though he dies." John 11:25

This is a time for all of us to remember God's love for us is so strong that he would sacrifice His only son to purify our souls. During this time of forgiveness and redemption, we should give thanks to our Lord and Savior for His death and resurrection as we pray for our family, friends and for our Country.

Letter to Magpul Industries Corp.

By Roger Williams for Congress

Last week I sent a letter to former U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant Richard Fitzpatrick, the founder of Magpul, inviting him to relocate his facilities to Texas' 25th Congressional District in the event that a ban on high capacity magazines takes effect in Colorado.

Mr. Fitzpatrick:

Recent actions by the Colorado legislature make it clear you are not welcome in Colorado; with this letter, I hope to make it clear you are welcome in Texas.

The 2nd Amendment is a sacred part of our Constitution, and that means any manufacturer of guns is producing a legally-protected product. Any attempt to undermine that Constitutional protection is an outrage.

I understand that your company employs 200 people and supports another 400 jobs in its supply chain. I also understand that your company will likely add $85 million to the Colorado economy in 2013.

Congressman-elect Williams Assigned to the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and the Committee on the Budget

By Roger Williams for Congress

Congressman-elect Roger Williams (TX-25) was assigned to serve on two House Committees in the 113th Congress. Williams will join the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and the House Committee on the Budget, chaired by Congressman Paul Ryan.

"It is an honor to serve alongside Chairman Shuster and Chairman Ryan on these two committees," said Williams. "With businesses and families across the country rapidly moving to the business-friendly Lone Star State, I look forward to strengthening our transportation infrastructure – one of the backbones of the Texas economy. And of course, nothing could be more important to the future of our country than balancing the budget. These two committees will allow me to fight for jobs and help balance the budget."
