American leaders from Washington to Lincoln to Reagan understood the importance of supporting private property. This country has a long tradition of encouraging the ownership of homes and land. This legacy has encouraged the creation of an ownership economy and helped us grow into the most prosperous nation in the world. We should be concerned every time any government entity wants to take someone’s land. As your Congressman, I will oppose eminent domain and support the rights of the property-owner.
